What's up fam!

Thanks for checking in my personal DJ webpage once again.

You can also find my news and updates at ForwardEver (http://forwardever.blogspot.com) and at Voltage Music(myspace.com/voltagemusiclabel).

What's up now? Great music, that's what. You can find DJ Tomas playing it from 10pm till late at LA BODEGA, every last Thursday at Otis SF. 25 Maiden Lane near Kearney Street, 2 blocks from Maiden Lane. FREE!

This gig definitely has an underground following and a "Body & Soul" kind of vibe -- people dancing everywhere to the sounds of Afrobeat, reggae, salasa, cumbia, batucada and other global club flavors.

DJ Tomas is joined monthly by extra-crucial resident B-Love, and guests monthly. Thursday July 26 its Sep of DubmissionSF fame (www.dubmissionsf.com).

As far as new music I recommend everything by Rich Medina, Chezidek, Zeb, Ceu, Zeep, Joe Batan, Lady Alma, Anthony B, and Gerardo Frissina. Those are just a few artists you'll hear at La Bodega.

Join us and vote for the Conscious Party!

April 16, 2007:

Its spring in SF, which means fog, Giants baseball and nuff business to warm up for summer.

In the Umoja Sound camp we're happy to announce our monthly shockout, La Bodega where "the global village gets busy!") every last Thursday at underground speakeasy Otis (www.otissf.com). 25 Maiden Lane in downtown SF, 10-late, 21+ID.

So check it: in the mix is DJ Tomas, co-founder of Voltage Music, plus local heavy DJ B-Love (Farmer Brown) and also Similak Chyld (Butterfly) -- the wild woman of the one's and two's, who will drop in every now then.

This month, April 26th, expect the man like Said (www.fatsouls.com), Nigerian by birth, dope by demand and purveyor of the superb Afro Joint monthly night at 222 Club brings his afro-global sounds.

Now if you don't know Otis Bar -- get to know it. Its cozy, vibey and sounds lovely. You can deinitely get your dance and your drink on, without any post attitudes. Plus, did I mention NO COVER. That's right, save your money for tipple.

There's no sign for Otis, so don't miss it, look for the brown door at 25 Maiden Lane near Kearney Street. PS: Afterhours license in effect!

Plus do remeber every month at La Bodega, B-Love and DJ Tomas domino tourneys are always ongoing. So bring your fingers and get down with some bones.

On the Voltatge Label (myspace.com/voltagemusiclabel) tip: good news is Amoeba SF has fully restocked the Voltage Music catalog on vinyl, including backstock!

--Till next time, see you in the clubs!

Ay yo! Check the events page for the updated Grime City posting with flyer graphics. Fri Feb 17 at Anu, free! Don't miss it. I'll be in the mix after that on Friday Feb. 24 for the next Stateless at Amnesia spinning global house flavors with special guests Khenu, Maneesh The Twister and more. The first edition of this party was off the chains, so if you like to dance or drink Belgian ale, come on through. I'll be joined by Nada from Wrectified, a talented multiinstrumentalist in the mix. If you live in LA or have friends down there, send them to Zanzibar in Santa Monica on Thurs Feb 23. Afro Funke w/DJ Jeremy Sole and guests! Best of global beat flavors all night on the Afro tip! Hit me at tomasp@sbcglobal.net if you need listage.

Just a quick note--catch me playing a Dubstep set (UK style garage-meets-dub) Fri Feb 17 at Grime City at Anu (6th St/Market, SF) with the B.I.G. crew--Subtec, Jamin, Megatron, The ONE and MC Child. Should be a great night of roughneck sounds. Also, I'll be rolling through LA on Thursday Feb 23, DJing at Afrofunke at Temple Bar in Santa Monica, alongside resident DJ Jeremy Sole. The night will feature all kinds of jazz afro beat business and quality dance music. Thanks to all who came out for the first rip-roaring edition of Stateless at Amnesia on Jan 28--it was awesome. Big respect to all the dancers...More soon, and check the blog--http://forwardever.blogspot.com Peace!-Tomas

Yes good people!Just back from three great days in Los Angeles. Tuesday Dec 27 I spun at Steppin Out at Red Buddha Lounge in Hollywood. It was a Live Mechanics clothing holiday party, with resident DJs Daz (Umoja Sound), Jun (Umoja Sound), Cid Hernandez (Soul People), Damon Bell (Live Mechanics) and Jeremy Sole (Afrofunke). It went off to the sounds off real soul, reggae and true school hip-hop. Thanks to DJ Daz for the link, and check him out at www.djdaz.com or http://umojahifi.blogspot.com

The next night I played at The Dub Club in Silverlake at The Echo club (appropriate name eh?). The Dub Club has a huge following after their 3-plus years of playing solid-foundation roots reggae, dub and rocksteady, and hosting shows with incredible reggae artists like the DJ godfather, U-Roy, and vocal groups the Abyssinians and the Melodians. The night saw 400 happy attendees get down to the sounds of DJs Tom Chasteen, Boss Harmony, Dungeonmaster, Rob Corderoy and yours truly. Excellent MCs on the mic like Jah Faith, Benji and Danger had the crowd undah control! Trip-hop scion Tricky (former Massive Attack)and reggae producer from Channel One, Scientist, were in the house. Talk about heavyweight! A girl from the audience was inspired to get on stage, grab the mix and sing Dawn Penn's anthem "No No No" acapella. Amazing.

Tonight, Fri Dec 30 tune in at 10PM to Western Additon radio, http://www.westaddradio.com/ (or 93.7 FM if you live in the Divis corridor). I'll be spinning some dubstep alongside B.I.G. crew's DJ Jamin. Then its over to KUSF 90.3 FM at 11PM for the Friday Night Session Radio show with Andrew Jervis. Tune in! www.fridaynightsession.com

Comin Sat Jan 28 to Amnesia: Six Degrees Records presents Stateless with DJ Tomas and live sounds from Lemonade. http://statelesssf.tribe.net/

More news and club business soon! Look for the return of Crucial in 2006!
